On Hayling Island
- Light Railway (less than a minute walk)
Take a ride along the beach on the East Hayling Light Railway. A station is situated not 30 seconds walk from the Bembridge View Guest House and the journey along the beach will give you time to enjoy the panoramic view out to sea. Watch the ships and ferries sail out of Portsmouth Harbour and past the Nab tower. Spitbank Fort is also in sight as is the nearby Isle of Wight.
- Beachlands, Funlands and other Arcades (15 minute walk, 2 minute drive)
Adults and Children alike will enjoy the Traditional seaside Fairground attractions and Arcades that can be found on Hayling, including an Arcade within sight of the Guest House itself. Take a ride on the Log Flume or the aptly named 'The Drop'. Smaller children are catered for just as well as the big kids, with various rides designed for toddlers. Ice Skating and Go-Kart racing are also popular past times, as well as prize bingo.
- Local Watersports / Sports
The waters of the Solent offer wonderful conditions for Sailors, Surfers, Windsurfers, Jet ski's and even Kite Surfing. Indeed, it is said we invented Windsurfing! Hayling Island has become an International venue for sailing and of course nearby Isle of Wight is the location of the famous Cowes Week sailing event. Fishing is another popular past-time with Sea and Course fishing possible in locations around Hayling Island and all within a short walk or drive from the Bembridge View Guest House. You can even learn to Kite Surf!
If you don't fancy getting wet, the nearby Seacourt Tennis Club offers all five racket sports (the only club in the country to do so) and we boast a challenging but relaxing 18 hole Golf Course of 190 acres. We have a 9 hole 'Pitch and Putt' course and even a Crazy Golf course near the Fairgrounds for the more modest golfer. Bicycles are available for hire on the beach so you can keep fit while riding along the trails both inland and coastal that the Island has to offer. Joggers will enjoy the coastal views too.
- Hayling Billy Trail and Langstone Harbour
In 1963, the old railway line between Hayling Island and Havant on the mainland was closed down. The Hayling Billy Trail is now used for leisure activities by walkers, horse riders and cyclists who can enjoy the coastal and country views. Langstone Harbour lies at the other end of the trail where you can take in a ferry ride as well as the RSPB Nature Reserve of Farlington Marshes.
- Blue Flag Beaches (less than a minute walk)
Hayling Island is the only place in Britain to qualify for not one but two Blue Flags for our five mile stretch of coast. The Bembridge View Guest House is only a 30 second walk to the closest beach which means you won't need to take the car. Go for a swim, get a tan or just admire the view of the Isle of Wight. See if you can spot The Nab!
- Restaurants, Cafes and Public Houses
Eating and Drinking establishments cater for all tastes and pockets on the Island and many are a short walk away from the Guest House. Sample the cuisine at Jasper's Restaurant or fresh local seafood at Marina Jaks. Take away and fast food restaurants are dotted around the immediate area with both large name chains and locally run business for those in a hurry. Enjoy a cool beer at the Ferry Boat Inn on a sunny afternoon or pop next door to the Caribou Inn for a quiet drink.
